A new software known as Brave Software has begun the first part of their plan to have mainstream adoption of their browser. The browser aims to be the first alternative to advertisements in the world we live in that is dominated by such.

The browser blocks ads and ad trackers by default, but does something instead that helps us to load pages faster and stop seeing those pesky advertisements. The start-up however is not simply taking away the world of ads, rather they are exchanging it for a more modern form of revenue generation.

The new system has the goal of delivering a high amount of privacy and security, with fewer middlemen in the way of getting to that web page. Brave has allowed for the contributions of web payments to different pages and publishers, as well as recently allowing contributions to YouTube stars who sign up with the platform. The goal is to build a system that will allow for those payments to be funded by money from the system itself.

Brenden Eich, the Chief executive of the company who previously co-founded and led the Mozilla Firefox browser, stated that “we’re giving people a warm welcome and putting some change in their pockets. If we do it right, it’ll create a new ecosystem into which we transplant the viable parts of the current ecosystem — the users, the publishers and content creators, and the brands who advertise. We’re just reconnecting them.”

The system relies on the use of cryptocurrency which is a relatively new technology, that creates currency based off of mining. The hopes are high the this new form of revenue generation can replace the often intrusive nature of advertising that we have to face on a daily basis throughout the internet.
