The developers behind the hard fork that caused a large amount of controversy have now stated that they will release a new software client this weekend. The download will hopefully be available by 7:00 PM UTC on November 12th.
Although it was originally set to be released on the first the month, the project is only now being completed. The idea with bitcoin gold is to mainstream the properties behind the protocol, but continue restricting specialized chips for mining which will help to decentralize the market further.
Large pocketed individuals have been able to purchase certain mining chips which enable them to earn more and mine more bitcoin than others. This directly refutes the purpose of cryptocurrency, and essentially centralizes a market thats main gold is decentralization.
The team behind bitcoin gold has been criticized in recent times due to the amount of coins they have set aside for themselves under the guise of development. The team released a statement recently that said “We are extremely grateful for the community around the world who have been contributing hash power to our testnets; besides patiently testing their own mining process, they allow exchanges, pools, wallet developers, and all other service operators to implement and test their support of BTG so that the bitcoin gold community can have a full suite of services at launch time.”
With the launch coming soon enough, the large market on cryptocurrency will continue to grow. The success of the first fork in the market is something that has yet to find repeatability. Investors and traders are excited to see whether or not this can see success as other events in the cryptocurrency world have. The hopes are high that this fork will only do positive things for the currency.
