Cryptocurrency Whoppercoin Puts Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

Ever want to get into the world of cryptocurrency but were just too hungry to choose between food and finance? Well if you find yourself in Russia, you don’t have to choose. Your friendly neighborhood Burger King and check out the new cryptocurrency loyalty program that use coins called Whoppercoins. The new crypto coins are hosted on the Waves blockchain platform, which allows users to swap out and even trade blockchain tokens holding an inherent value on a peer-to-peer exchange.

There are currently one billion Whoppercoins issued to date and those who are interested can spend one ruble to get one Whoppercoin. To just put that into perspective, $1 is 59 Rubles.These crypto coins can be redeemed for Whopper burgers. It takes 1,700 Whoppercoins to purchase a Whopper and though this is kind of a media stunt, customers can still transfer coins, trade them, and treat them just like any other digital currency

Whoppercoin has its own asset page as well, which explains the specifics of the coin as “a token for buying burgers in Russian Burger King and for the stock exchange.” There’s even an app set to be released for the program in both the Apple and Google app stores.

“Now Whopper is not only burger that people in 90 different countries love – it’s an investment tool as well,” Ivan Shestov, head of external communications at Burger King Russia said in a statement.
